South Dakota State University
& Residential Life Master PlanTreanor Architects, and local architect of record, Koch Hazard Architects supported the university in its effort to create a ten-year residential life and dining services master plan. The team reviewed existing planning efforts and conducted additional research to develop a comprehensive plan. The team continued on to conduct a feasibility study and design a new residence hall for freshman and sophmores. Studies revealed that the university could accommodate a 400-bed, pod-style residence hall. Originally conceived as one building, the concept evolved during the design charrette into a three-building complex of three- and four- story halls. Each floor comprises a 36-bed pod-style arrangement with shared living room, kitchen, laundry, and quiet lounge space overseen by a community assistant. One of the residence hall buildings will connect to Mathews Hall, which will be renovated as part of this project. This project is registered LEED NC 2.2 Silver. |
