KU's New Pharmacy School Opens Doors to Students and Faculty

KU's School of Pharmacy students, faculty and staff are moving in to their new teaching and administration building, getting ready to begin classes later this week. The 112,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility was designed by Treanor Architects to be energy efficient, environmentally responsible and flexible to serve pharmacy education well into the future.

Center for Grain and Animal Health Research

From GMPRC to CGAHR.

The USDA Research Center in Manhattan, Kansas recently went through a name change from Grain Marketing Production and Research Center to Center for Grain and Animal Health Research to better reflect the center's current activities, including the relocation of Arthropod-Borne Animal Disease Research Laboratory from Laramie, Wyoming. Other Research Units in the Center include Hard Winter Wheat Genetics Research Unit, Engineering and Wind Erosion Research Unit, Stored Product Insect Research Unit and Grain Quality and Structure Research Unit.

The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy New Teaching and Administration Building, designed by Treanor Architects, was selected to appear as an Outstanding Design in the 2010 American School & University Educational Interiors Showcase "work-in-Progress" category. This year, the panel of Educational Interiors Showcase judges selected 95 projects to be profiled in the August issue of American School & University.

Ground-breaking ceremony held for new KU engineering lab building

Treanor Architects is designing a new School of Engineering interdisciplinary research building on the Kansas University campus. This new building will house laboratories for research in a number of multi-disciplinary areas, including energy and transportation, global change, composite materials and technology, and sustainable building practices. The building itself will also serve as a test bed for new sustainable materials and energy-saving modeling.

Kansas Women in Bio All Star Line Up

Jennifer Kulseth attended the 2010 BIO International Convention in Chicago where she participated in the “All Star Lineup” for Kansas Women in Bio. Jennifer specializes in laboratory design at Treanor Architects and is a frequent participant in conferences and seminars focusing on the latest state-of-the-art laboratory practices and equipment.

Missouri Plant Science Center Groundbreaking

The Missouri Plant Science Center (MPSC) construction began with an April 26 groundbreaking. Treanor Architects provided architectural design services for this project which is a joint venture of the state-chartered, nonprofit Missouri Technology Corp.; the University of Missouri System; and the city of Mexico.

The 25,000-square foot facility will house office space, wet and dry laboratory space, and manufacturing facilities. Tenants in the shared-use facility will perform research and perfect manufacturing processes for soybean and other plant-based materials.
