Johnson County Youth & Family Services Center
Olathe, KansasDetention, Treatment and Education Complex
Treanor Architects was retained by Johnson County in 2008 to provide comprehensive design services including complete predesign, design and construction administration services for the construction of a Juvenile Services Complex, directly north of the existing Juvenile Detention Center. Johnson County contracted with Treanor in 2008 to design a 33-bed secure juvenile facility with significant emphasis on treatment, education and family integration programs. This full-service, stand-alone facility is located on the campus setting with a higher security 78-bed medium/maximum juvenile detention and shares food and laundry services. It also serves as a regional juvenile detention training facility. Bobbie Huskey provided planning and programming services for the facility. Construction began in fall 2009. The $14 million project was completed in spring 2011.
