Franklin County Government Center
Union, Missouri
County Administrative Office CenterFranklin County selected Treanor Architects to provide master planning and design services for four separate projects. The first project, completed in 2006, was a county administrative office center. Both this and the second project—a new courthouse—are designed to mirror each other and to maintain a focus on the existing historic courthouse. One of the objectives was to create a unified county complex that would present a positive government image now and in the future. The Franklin County Government Center houses commissioners chambers, clerk, assessors, collectors, recorder of deeds, planning and zoning, building department, and other non-judicial county offices. It is a two-and-one-half story building with a simple, clear circulation pattern facilitating easy way-finding. The building has been designed to accommodate future expansion without interrupting operations. Treanor is currently in planning and design for the county’s new judicial center and a renovation of its historic courthouse. The final project, a jail expansion, is currently on hold pending funding. |
