KU Baseball - Hoglund Ballpark
University of Kansas, Lawrence, KansasImprovements to Image and Function
The Facilities Needs Assessment and Master Plan of all University of Kansas athletic facilities identified several critical needs, short-term goals and long-term objectives for the Hoglund Maupin Baseball Stadium. Upon KUAC review of the assessment, Treanor was retained to provide services to improve the Stadium's image and function.
The Hoglund Ballpark renovation included a new pedestrian entry plaza to increase spectator safety; reconfiguration of existing bleachers to create new premium box seating; 1,300 new bleacher seats; new public restrooms; new expanded dugouts and replacement of the outfield fence; a masonry enclosure and roof over a new press box with booths for radio, TV, public announcing, press and VIPs. The renovation offers wonderful new fan amenities, improvements for the players and a great new “ballpark” image.
The 6,968 sq ft McCarthy Family Club House for KU Baseball was completed in 2009 adjacent to the first base dugout under the existing bleachers. The Club House has offices and locker room for the coach and trainers, a cardio training area, players' locker room, academic room and a second floor Players’ Lounge with a private balcony overlooking the baseball field.
