Historic 1800's chapter house

Having designed several new and renovated facilities for Sigma Phi Epsilon, Treanor Architects was contacted by Sigma Phi Epsilon national to design renovations to the historic 1800's chapter house at Yale University.

The historic building was home to renowned architect Paul Rudolph while he was dean of the Yale School of Architecture. Rudolph renovated the building in the 1950s. Turned into apartments in the 1990’s, the building was then purchased by Sigma Phi Epsilon to turn into a flagship Residential Learning Community (RLC). This RLC will provide office space for a faculty fellow and living learning space to hold classes, discussion and lecture. The renovation is intended to induce a more traditional sense of a fraternity house, with a central entry, grand staircase and additional common space.
