Lawrence High School Expansion

Science and Physical Education Enhancements

Improvements to the Lawrence High School were made possible by the 2005 bond election. The first component of the program consisted of an addition of three new science classrooms to replace facilities that were built under different codes and different curriculum needs. The new classrooms were built to current safety standards and outfitted to support contemporary teaching styles and learning outcomes. Other science rooms in the school were remodeled to replace worn laboratory tops and fixtures, and to improve classroom safety. A new preparation and chemical storage suite provides the science faculty also with a space for casual discussion and collaboration.

The second component of the project centered on support spaces for the high school's competition gymnasium. The East Gym lacked a dedicated public entrance, lobby, restrooms, and concessions, all of which were added with this project. In addition, the time-worn and inadequate locker rooms were renovated and brought up to date.
