New Residence Hall: Southeast Missouri State University
Southeast Missouri State UniversityBroadway & Henderson
In 2006, Southeast Missouri State University experienced the highest enrollment in the school’s 134-year history. This influx of students coupled with an increased demand for more under-class housing led the university to examine possible solutions to their immediate housing need. In fall of 2007, Treanor Architects performed a preliminary analysis of eight potential sites and assessed the feasibility of constructing a new 250-bed residence hall or a 305-bed Greek village by August of 2009.
Following the study, the university hired Treanor Architects to be the design architect and Jacobs Facilities, Inc. as architect of record. The new 308-bed living learning community was designed with pods of semi-suites surrounding common areas in the corridor. A grab and go food service element was incorporated to serve the entire 900 student community. The new housing overlooks the university football field and is seated at the front door of the university.
