New Indoor Aquatic Facility

In 1991, the Blue Valley Recreation Commission aquatics program was just a ripple in the pool, with only a few classes. Today enrollment is more than 2,467 swimmers with more than 300 swimmers on a waiting list. Facilities were stretched beyond capacity.

Treanor Architects and our team of national experts/local consultants have joined the Blue Valley Recreation Commission to create a new, indoor aquatic facility focusing on aquatic instruction. The complex incorporates two separate bodies of water, locker room facilities, a party room and a glass-enclosed lobby area designed to allow parents to observe without intruding or requiring that they sit in the pool area. Special attention was paid to acoustics to reduce noise levels typically found in pool environments.

The Indoor Aquatic Facility was built as an addition to the existing Blue Valley Recreation Center located at 6545 W. 151st Street. Besides serving the aquatic needs, the center incorporates one centralized entry and front desk for the complex. The facility opened in the Spring of 2008.
